Sidney, Australia

Traveling with a friend who is not from your native country has one major problem. You have to use English to each other, and that means you can't badmouth people on the street! Hey, that's half the fun when you are in a foreign country. Whatever you say, people won't be able to understand.
I guess that would be the one and only drawback about being a native English speaker. Wherever you go, people understand you! How annoying!
I was at the Tate Britain one day, and I noticed a bunch of elementary school kids staring at my feet. Apparently, my sandals – with an unmatched pair – fascinated them. Before I knew it, they encircled me and started a lively debate on my sandals, completely oblivious of me listening. They were too young to realize a foreign-looking tourist could possibly understand them, but sorry guys, unfortunately your language is not a dead dialect of Atlantis. I sort of speak that too.

Oh, yes, I went to Sidney with a friend from Hong Kong.

  1. Oh boy~ reading your journal makes me laugh out SO LOUD. And you are certainly a deadpan comedian! : ]

Is that the reason that you never shared your badmouth with me on the street? Too bad, I didn't know I've killed your big guilty pleasure...

It would be fun to travel with you accompany with lots of dramatic plots. (you kinda like wearing things either upside down or unmatched?!)
